Founded in 1875 as a State Normal School, Indiana University of PA became a State Teachers College in 1927. In 1959, the name was changed to Indiana State College and achieved university status in 1965. Sutton Hall was constructed in 1875 at a cost of $141,000 and serves as the heart of the campus.
